Shakespeare Workshops
at your school
Fun, active and memorable workshops designed to bring Shakespeare's language to life for students
Shakespeare was written to be performed. At Bedouin Shakespeare we believe that the best way to get students to understand the genius of the text is to get it on its feet. Each workshop facilitator is an actor who has first hand experience of performing these texts to thousands of people.
These hands-on workshops let students uncover the clues in Shakespeare's literary devices and apply them both on stage and in the classroom.

The Bedouin Shakespeare Company have held workshops for all educational levels from prep school through to MA drama school courses in London. Whether in Europe, Africa, the Middle East or elsewhere we firmly believe that Shakespeare can unlock the imagination of students and adults alike.
-
What are Bedouin Shakespeare Workshops? Our workshops offer a practical learning experience where students explore Shakespeare’s plays through experimentation and performance. Led by experienced professional actors, these sessions help students understand and appreciate Shakespeare’s language and literary devices by putting them into action.
-
How many students per workshop? We recommend no more than about thirty students per workshop. If the number is more than this, we are able to run simultaneous workshops.
-
How much space is required for a workshop? The workshops are practical and so require a clear large space so that the students are able to rehearse scenes in groups. A large classroom or studio theatre is ideal. They will be performing some scenes for the rest of the group so chairs are advised for older students to be able to form an audience.
-
What will students gain from these workshops?Students will gain a deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s language, rhetorical devices, and thematic elements. By participating in live demonstrations and exercises, they will see how these elements function in performance and how to apply them in their own work.
-
Who leads the workshops? Each workshop is facilitated by a professional actor who has performed Shakespeare's plays before large audiences. Their expertise brings the text to life and provides valuable insights into Shakespeare’s techniques.
-
What do we need to prepare before the workshop? We recommend having a basic understanding of the play or text you want to focus on, but no extensive preparation is required. Our facilitators will guide students through the material and activities. We can focus in depth on one play or concentrate on Shakespeare's language in general.
